FNP Archive
The universal shelving system FNP combines minimal construction with maximum performance. Thanks to its double depth, FNP Archive facilitates the storage of larger numbers of files and books.

Full of content and possibilities

Side holds rail. Rail holds base. Base holds rail. Rail holds side. Thanks to the simple and intelligent construction, the shelf can accommodate a maximum amount of content with a minimum material thickness and can be adapted to a number of room situations. The middle panels in FNP Archiv give it a high level of stability, meaning it can be used freestanding from two sides.

Material
Corpus: FU (birch plywood), MDF or Bicolor

Description

FNP Archive

Design: Axel Kufus, 2004

A lot of content, little shelf

The universal shelving system FNP is synonymous with minimal construction and maximum performance. And has been for 30 years. The consistent and transparent shelf really looks good for its age. Which could be attributed to three decades of intelligent construction, regional production and sustainable use of materials combined with understatement. FNP is short for land-use plan (Flächennutzungsplan) in full length and breadth. Because in addition to the optimal use of both raw materials at 93 percent, it also adapts to every available space.

FNP shelf combines everything that is important to Moormann – consistency, transparency, posture and of course books.

In the meantime the shelf extends for kilometres and worldwide through flats, offices and libraries. What makes it the ideal roommate even after 30 years? FNP is not only clever, filigree, can handle loads, is stable, kind to resources, variable, easy to assemble and dismantle when moving and has lots of solution assistants such as boxes, lights or sliding doors, but has remained true to character. Which is down to the fact that the shelving system has only been cautiously elaborated and has been left as pure as it is. Even the shelf from the original year 1989 is still compatible with today’s system.

Material Properties and Care
FNP Archive Material properties and care

FU Black (birch plywood)

Material properties:

Several birch veneers are cross-glued, creating a material with a high level of dimensional stability. Generally our birch plywood panels are surface-coated or oiled. They are produced in Finland. The slowly-growing trees in the Finnish climate create fine-grain wood of consistently high quality. The following properties can occur: knot inclusions on the edge and possibly different edge colors (image 1), inclusions, glossy stripes or matt areas on the surface (image 2).

Cleaning and care:

Light surface soiling on the untreated edges can be removed using fine-grain sandpaper. Coated surfaces can be cleaned using a soft cloth with lukewarm water and a small amount of colourless washing-up liquid. Please only wipe oiled surfaces with a slightly damp cloth and as necessary treat with colourless oil.

MDF Natural

Material properties:

To produce MDF materials, extremely fine, mainly bark-free wood is pressed homogenously in longitudinal and transverse direction to produce a dense wood material. Our MDF materials are produced in Germany and Austria. Characteristics of industrial production as well as slight color variations in different production batches are therefore visible. Due to signs of usage on the uncoated raw material, the furniture develops an individual character over its lifespan.

Cleaning and care:

MDF is a semi-finished material designed for coating. We use MDF for its characteristic aesthetic as an uncoated raw material. Contact or cleaning with liquids should therefore be avoided.
Light surface dirt on the untreated edges or surfaces can be removed using fine-grain sandpaper.
